5 Essential Tips to Planning the Perfect Honeymoon

Regardless of where you are at in your wedding planning journey, it can be exciting to take a step back and ponder over what your honeymoon vacation will be. Maybe you know exactly where you want to go, or you are still wondering where exactly in the world to celebrate. So much becomes involved with planning a honeymoon, and most couples don’t realize that it can be almost as stress-inducing as the wedding! However, it certainly doesn’t have to be if you take the right precautions. We have picked up a thing or two about planning the perfect honeymoon in our years of working with brides and wedding clients. Here is everything you need to know to make your dream honeymoon a reality!

Tip #1: Research Honeymoon Destinations

Make sure you do research! We always recommend clients to browse on Instagram and Pinterest travel accounts to gain inspiration. You can also search on different travel blogs to get a feel for if you are interested in a more adventurous honeymoon or if you would prefer a more laid-back destination. However, first things first are to actually sit down with your partner and express how both of you envision your honeymoon being. You need to make sure you are on the same page right from the start. Discuss things such as how long you want to stay, if you want to visit multiple locations, and what time of year would be best to travel to the destination you choose.

Tip #2: Figure out a Honeymoon Budget

Before your jaw drops at the expense of overwater bungalows in Bora Bora, set a realistic budget to spend and what destinations are possible within that budget. You want your honeymoon to be stress-free, and that means coming up with a budget, and staying within it, so you don’t worry about money the whole time you’re on vacation. You can research ahead of time flights for the time of year you’ll be traveling to get an idea of what airfare will cost. When creating a budget, be sure to account for your food and drinks, airfare and accommodation, any excursions and activities, as well as transportation.

Tip #3: Plan the Perfect Itinerary for you

When planning your itinerary, make sure you get enough relaxation time for yourselves apart from the days allotted for the sightseeing, tours, and hectic activities. Many couples will get so excited to get to go on their dream trip together finally that they try to cover too many things in a limited amount of time, which can be exhausting, and not the point of a honeymoon! Take time for each other, and make sure to schedule some resort days to soak up some R&R&R (rest, romance, and relaxation).

Tip #4: All-Inclusive is the way to Go!

When you’ve already made 1,001 decisions about your wedding, opting for an all-inclusive package is a great choice to stop stressing and relax. All the basics are covered at an all-inclusive, including room, meals, tips, on-site activities, and entertainment. You pay just one price upfront, which makes it much easier to stay within budget. Many all-inclusive resorts are known for their scenic locations and picturesque facilities. You’ll find beach and pool cabanas, private Jacuzzis, and even overwater bungalows. For our clients looking to spend their honeymoon relaxing on a beach, we always recommend the Unico Hotel Riviera Maya. Plus, it’s incredibly common at all-inclusive honeymoon resorts to meet other couples with whom you can make friends for the week!

Tip #5: Use a Travel Agent that Caterers to your Honeymoon Needs and Budget

The planning doesn’t stop once the wedding is over. Honeymoons need to be carefully planned out too! If your budget allows, we highly recommend hiring a professional who can put together a full itinerary. Putting together a honeymoon, especially if it’s a foreign destination, can be overwhelming. After dealing with the logistics of your wedding, the last thing you want to be stressing over is your honeymoon plans. If you want to hire someone who can take the honeymoon overwhelm off your hands and cater to you and your fiance’s travel tastes, we would highly recommend you work with Hollie Hixson at 3H travel. She saves you time, money and books everything for you, so you don’t have to worry about any last-minute details. Holly is well-traveled and experienced in the industry, so you will not be disappointed!
